Residents are invited to attend a Kingswood screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing on September 10.
The event at Holy Trinity Church Hall forms part of a nationwide grassroots campaign to increase public understanding of the climate and nature crisis and to encourage informed discussion about the UK’s response.
The 45-minute film is a condensed version of the National Emergency Briefing, first presented before an audience of more than 1,000 invited guests at Westminster Hall in London. The original event brought together politicians and representatives from business, science, faith groups, culture, sport and the media to hear evidence from leading experts on the current and future impacts of climate change.
According to the organisers, the briefing presents scientific evidence showing that climate change is already contributing to more frequent and severe extreme weather events around the world, including floods, wildfires and heatwaves. It also highlights opportunities to strengthen the UK’s economy, resilience and quality of life through timely action to reduce emissions and adapt to future climate risks.
The Kingswood screening is from 7-9pm. Admission is open to members of the public.
