Free day of fun for all

A FREE community festival promising diverse dance, music, and artistic workshops celebrating cultures from around the world is taking place at Kingswood Park this month.

The event, on Saturday June 15 between 11am and 4pm, has the theme Celebrate with Me.

It is part of the South Gloucestershire and Bristol Refugee Festival and the Festival of Nature and will take place around the Kingswood Park bandstand and amphitheatre, offering food, stalls, crafts, face-painting, and entertainment for everyone.

The festival features music and dancing from Europe, Asia and Africa. Artists from Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Nicaragua and Ukraine are among those taking part.

Visitors will have the chance to try activities such as Bollywood dance, drumming and folksinging. 

One of the groups involved, the charity Movema Bristol, said: “We are so grateful for the support from our funders and partners to be able to make this festival possible. The event helps to shine a light on the cultural richness and diversity of our communities.  It’s going to be a fantastic day of fun and discovery Bring your curiosity and join the celebration, there’s something for everyone!

Among the organisations supporting the event are Kingswood Town Council, South Glos Council, Kingswood Park Project, South Glos Race Equality Network (SGREN) and SGS College.
