Sir Bernard Lovell Academy’s Sixth Form students achieved excellent results.
The school said the Class of 2025 had demonstrated exceptional dedication, resilience, and academic excellence, with results that reflect their hard work and commitment.
Results were particularly strong in mathematics and geography, and there were also outstanding outcomes achieved in creative media and business.
Over 90% of our students who applied to university were successful in securing places at their chosen institution, including an increased number at Russell Group universities. Willem A, Ciaran H and Will A are all progressing to mathematics degree courses at the University of Bristol or Bath having achieved a grade A*/A in A level maths.
Well done also to Lauren S and Ruby T for securing places on highly competitive degree courses in radiotherapy and midwifery at UWE and to Jacob B who is progressing to study film, television and digital production at Bath Spa University.
The school said it was equally pleased that a range of other students have been offered high quality apprenticeships both locally and further afield, including Cody W, who should be congratulated after securing a degree level apprenticeship in project management with Nokia.
Dr Robin Bassford, Headteacher, said “It has been a real privilege and joy to have worked with this cohort of students who are a credit to themselves, their parents and our staff. ]
“I am so proud of each and every one of them, not just because of their brilliant results today but also for their significant contributions to the wider school life at SBL.”
Collegiate celebrates
STUDENTS, staff and parents at Collegiate are celebrating following an excellent set of examination results.
Ninety seven per cent of Collegiate Year 13s have secured their first or second choice university or apprenticeship courses, having earned fantastic grades in their A-level, BTEC and CTEC exams.
Headline figures include:
• 40% of A Level grades were awarded at A/A*
• 76% of A Level grades were awarded at A*/B
• 74% of CTEC and BTEC grades were awarded at Starred Distinction / Distinction (the equivalent of A*/A at A Level)
• 15 students (20% of the cohort) achieved the equivalent of AAA or better
• 97% of applicants secured their first (85%) or second choice university course or apprenticeship
Collegiate headmaster Jeremy McCullough said: “We are always delighted when our collective raw results are very good but, as ever, it is the individual success stories that really demonstrate the value of the education a school has provided and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces collecting their results this morning.
“Our brilliant students have worked ever so hard, and have been fantastically well-supported by their teachers and their parents. They have earned a fantastic set of results that will see the vast majority of them move on to their first or second choice university or apprenticeship but they have achieved so much more than this in their time at Collegiate.
“This cohort have contributed so much to the life of the school, in so many different ways, that we have to remind ourselves that there is more to their school careers than these results, no matter how good they are. “
