IT’S been a busy festive season for the team at Kingswood-based charity Jessie May – and the team expect 2026 to continue to be action-packed.
The staff organised a Christmas party for 34 families of children with life-limiting conditions. They were entertained by Lucy Lost-It, the DJ and entertainer, who kept everyone dancing with a big bubble maker. Father Christmas welcomed children to his grotto, gifting each child a present, while siblings received chocolate selection boxes kindly donated by Pear Tree Recruitment. face painters added extra sparkle.
A virtual reality experience allowed families to soar in a hot air balloon with Father Christmas or enjoy a gentle sleigh ride down a snowy street. Children also took part in an Elf on the Shelf treasure hunt and were delighted by a surprise visit from Bluey and Bingo.
A team of volunteers – including nurses, office staff, trustees, and external helpers – supported the event. Volunteer photographer Julian captured the day’s highlights, and transport was arranged for a family who would otherwise have been unable to attend.
Jessie May’s Interim CEO, Andrea Choules, said: “Seeing our families come together in a space where they can spend quality time with one another, alongside other families in the same boat, is incredibly special. Opportunities like this are rare – many of these activities wouldn’t be accessible without us hosting them. Being part of these moments, where children and siblings can simply enjoy themselves and create lasting memories, is why we do what we do – supporting families so every child and sibling can experience the joy of Christmas.”
The charity has run its annual Christmas appeal. It is still open at https://jessiemay.org.uk/christmas-appeal-2025/
