Kingswood & Hanham Bowling Club was due to take part in the Bowls’ Big Weekend over the Late Spring Bank Holiday.
Club secretary Val Molton, who was recently named Volunteer of the Year at the Bowls England 2023 Awards Night, said the event in 2021 brought in about 30 new bowlers and last year it recruited six to ten people.
recruit around 30 new bowlers, which was fantastic. Then last year we reduced it to two days, but I think we recruited a good half a dozen to ten people. Both occasions have brought down the average age of club members.
“We’re planning to run an event on the Bank Holiday Monday (May 29), with two sessions across the morning and afternoon,” she said.
